Impact

Crooked teeth or jaw problems make it difficult to clean your teeth, leading to tooth decay, gum disease, abnormal wear of tooth surfaces and over time total tooth loss. Excessive strain on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth can affect the jaw joints causing problems such as headaches, face and neck pain.

Furthermore, the visual impact of these crooked teeth can lead to a decrease in self confidence.

Benefits

Compared to regular braces, Invisalign allows you to remove your aligners whenever you are eating, allowing you to continue your regular preferred diet uninterrupted. It’s near invisible look allows you go about your day without much attention drawn to them.

The aligners are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. No metal brackets and wires also means you spend less time in your doctor’s office getting adjustments.

Invisalign® also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.

Procedure

You wear each set of aligners for about 10-14 days, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to the final position Dr. Phung has designed. You’ll visit us about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

Not everyone is suitable for Invisalign® treatment – depending on what you want to have done to your teeth and how difficult it will be to achieve that result. Dr. Phung will discuss this more with you at your consultation appointment at Lakeview Dentistry.
